Editorial Policy

How we research, write, and review every entry in the SEC Filing Academy. Last updated 2026-05-16.

Who writes this

All content is published under the byline FilingRadar Editorial and authored by JustShootMe, the one-person studio behind FilingRadar.app. We are not a licensed broker-dealer, investment adviser, or law firm. We are retail investors who got tired of EDGAR's user experience and built a tool — and now write the documentation we wish we'd had.

Where definitions come from

Every glossary entry links to the primary sec.gov source — usually a Form instruction PDF, an SEC Fast Answer, or a release from the Division of Corporation Finance. We paraphrase those sources in plain English; we do not copy-paste them. When SEC rules change (e.g., the EDGAR Next modernization rollout), we update the affected entries and bump last_verified.

We do not cite Investopedia, paywalled news outlets, or AI-generated summaries as primary sources.

AI disclosure

Some entries are drafted with AI assistance against the SEC source, then human-edited before publication. Where AI assistance was used, the entry's JSON metadata carries ai_assisted: true. No entry is published without a human reviewing it against the cited SEC source.

Corrections

Spot an error, ambiguity, or outdated rule? Email editorial@filingradar.app. We aim to respond within 48 hours and update entries within one business week of a verified correction. Every entry carries a last_verified date so you can see when it was last checked against the SEC source.

What this content is not

  • Not investment advice. Educational reference only.
  • Not legal or tax advice. Consult a qualified professional.
  • Not a substitute for reading the actual SEC filing — every entry links to the primary sec.gov source.
  • Not affiliated with the SEC. "EDGAR" and SEC forms are public-domain terms.
